Summer foot care tip

Make sure that drying your feet is part of your hygiene routine. “The space between the toes is very airtight,” says Tillet. “Skin gets moist and breaks down, leading to infection.” Prevent this by toweling off thoroughly after washing your feet and by removing wet or sweaty socks or shoes immediately. You can still use moisturizer to prevent dry, cracked skin— just avoid putting it between your toes. Curtesy of

Happy Fathers Day

Father's Day is observed on the third Sunday of June. It honors all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, and father figures for their contribution. It was created to complement Mother's Day. It is not a federal holiday. Businesses will be open or closed based on the day of the week, Sunday.

Father's Day is a time to recognize fathers and father figures who have influenced a person's life. It is celebrated through cards, gifts, dining out, gifts such as electronic gadgets, sports attire, household tools or time spent together.

Father's Day started in the early 20th century in the United States to celebrate fatherhood and to complement Mother's Day. It was first celebrated on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA by Sonora Smart Dodd. She heard about Mother's Day in 1909 and told her pastor she thought fathers should have a similar holiday. Her father raised six children as a single parent. The local clergymen agreed to the idea and the first Father's Day sermon was given on June 19, 1910. Curtesy of

Yoga great for diabetes!

A number of studies show that if you have diabetes, yoga can benefit you in several ways. Yoga can help lower body fat, fight insulin resistance, and improve nerve function — all important when you have type 2 diabetes. Like tai chi, yoga is also a great diabetic stress reducer. “When stress levels go higher, so do your blood sugar levels,” says Colberg-Ochs. One of the advantages of yoga as an exercise is that you can do it as often as you like. “The more the better,” she says. Curtesy of

Coconut Oil DIY body scrub

A body scrub/exfoliator has two major jobs: get rid of old skin cells and any leftover dirt and grime lodged deep in the pores, and to significantly hydrate and moisture the skin. However, most body scrubs are lacking in the hydration department. But not coconut oil!

Creating a superior, all naturalbody scrub is SO easy, using only 2 ingredients that are probably already hiding in your pantry. Mix together half a cup of coconut oil with a handful of either sugar or salt. Blend, use, and ADORE! You will LOVE the amazing, super hydrating results. Curtesy of

Happy Flag Day

Flag Day falls within National Flag Week, a time when Americans reflect on the foundations of the nation’s freedom. The flag of the United States represents freedom and has been an enduring symbol of the country’s ideals since its early days. During both events, Americans also remember their loyalty to the nation, reaffirm their belief in liberty and justice, and observe the nation’s unity.
People across the United States celebrate Flag Day on June 14 each year to honor the United States flag and to commemorate the flag’s adoption. On the same day, the United States Army celebrates its birthday.

Apply directly to skin to create an invisible barrier between you and your shoes Stick form allows easy application Blisters form when skin rubs against another surface, causing friction. This causes a tear or separation within the upper layers of the skin (the epidermis), forming a space between the layers. The surface is usually intact. Traveling with Diabetes

Travel well. And travel often! But when you travel always be prepared. Living with diabetes you must always be prepared, especially when you travel. Always travel with extra supplies including medications, test strips and insulin. Packing extra will ensure on a long layover or flight cancellation you will be covered. Easily organize supplies in plastic bags or even better cute beauty or cosmetic bags. Also an extra important tip..,never leave home without your medical ID bracelet. Include extra carbo-snacks in your carry-on and with you at all times when you travel...and wear your ID bracelet just in case of an unexpected emergency. Be safe!!!

The National Cancer Survivors Day is a secular holiday celebrated on the first Sunday in June. The day is meant to “demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality”. Though it is mainly celebrated in the United States, the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation is attempting to grow its popularity in other countries, with some success.

Tour de Fox

The countdown to Tour de Fox is officially on. And no one is feeling the burn more than our resident endurance athlete Sam Fox (no relation to Michael), who's eating more than 5,000 calories a day and putting in 40 miles at the gym daily to prepare for this physical cross-country journey to unite and inspire the Parkinson's community, and to raise $1 million for research.

Inspired by Sam? Donate to Tour de Fox today and your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar with 100% of every penny going straight to Parkinson's research programs.

Once on Tour, Sam will be biking and climbing on average between 6-12 hours daily for 103 days — making stops in each of the lower 48 states to climb their highest peaks. Check out the Tour de Fox infographic below to learn more about the route, Sam's training and how you can part of it.

Share the infographic with friends and family and help spread the word of Tour de Fox far and wide. If you haven't already, sign up at and join the Tour by participating in one of 52 climbs or rides with Sam this summer!

House Plants make you Happy & Healthy

House Plants do more than just brighten up a room with color and living energy. Along with being pleasing to the eye, they bring real health benefits.

Not only do complaints about headaches, stress, heart and circulation symptoms, and colds decrease when indoor plants are present, according to Dr. Leona Rogler in “The comprehensive office series,” but also richly decorating rooms with plants can help to keep the air clean.

Mother Fern is one of the best at purifying the air, is a very popular house plant because it is easy to care for, thrives in indirect light and with little moisture, and is very attractive. curtesy of
